Spotacular Children in Need Day

What a wonderful day we had raising money for BBC Children in Need! Our pupils came to school dressed in spots, stripes and all manner of colourful outfits to support this fantastic cause that helps disadvantaged children across the United Kingdom.

The school council organised a series of fun activities throughout the day, including a sponsored dance-athon during lunch break and a guess the number of spots competition. Our youngest children in Foundation Stage particularly enjoyed decorating Pudsey Bear masks.

We are delighted to announce that together we raised an impressive £247.50 for the charity. A huge thank you to all our families for their generous donations and for helping the children get into the spirit of the day. Your support makes a real difference to young lives.

Anti-Bullying Week: Reach Out

This week we joined schools across the country in marking Anti-Bullying Week with the theme "Reach Out". The children have been learning about the importance of reaching out to someone they trust if they are worried about bullying, and reaching out to those who may be experiencing difficulties.

On Monday, we kicked off the week with Odd Socks Day, celebrating what makes each of us unique. Classes have been taking part in circle time discussions, creating friendship posters, and learning about how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils wrote thoughtful poems about standing together against bullying.

The Anti-Bullying Alliance provides excellent resources for parents who wish to continue these important conversations at home. We encourage families to talk with their children about what they have learned and how they can be good friends to others.

Road Safety Week Awareness

As part of Road Safety Week organised by the road safety charity Brake, our children have been learning vital skills to help them stay safe on the roads around our village and beyond. This year's theme focused on safe walking and cycling.

Local road safety officers visited the school to deliver assemblies and workshops to different year groups. Our younger children practised looking left, right and left again before crossing using our playground road markings, whilst older pupils discussed the dangers of distractions such as mobile phones when walking near traffic.

The children also designed eye-catching road safety posters which are now displayed around school. We would like to remind parents to park considerately at drop-off and pick-up times, and to use the crossing points provided near the school gates.

Harvest Festival Celebration

Our annual Harvest Festival service at All Saints Church was a truly uplifting occasion this year. The children sang beautifully and shared readings reflecting on the importance of being thankful for the food we eat and thinking of those less fortunate than ourselves.

We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our school community in donating non-perishable food items. The donations have been delivered to the Banbury Foodbank, which provides emergency food parcels to local families in crisis. The foodbank team expressed their heartfelt thanks for our contribution during what is an increasingly busy time for them.

Thank you to Reverend Baker for welcoming us into the church, and to all the parents and grandparents who joined us for the service. These moments of coming together as a community are so precious and remind us of our Christian values of care and sharing.
